Introducing SAQ® to Europe

16th - 18th November 2007

Part of the seminars conducted covered the SAQ Continuum, adapted for use in a Martial Art. SAQ stands for 'Speed, Agility & Quickness'. It as a functional training programme to improve abilities in this Area.

P-Award/Preliminary Award in Training Speed, Agility & Quickness
Licensed SAQ® Trainer status. Accredited by NCFE (England & Wales), FIA (Australia), SAQ INTERNATIONAL recognised by professional organisations and bodies throughout sport, education and fitness. Notional NVQ Level 1 Award. Preliminary, practical level of competency and experience held.

The attendees were introduced to the 'Dynamic Flex Warm Up' and then stepped into the 'Mechanics' section of the Continuum.

Innervation

The seminars then moved into 'Innervation' with the introduction of the fast foot ladders. Basic steps were covered.

Accumulation of Potential

A number of drills designed to fit the specifics of kicking were then introduced.

Punch-Kick Resistors™ and were used to develop the 'Explosive' phase for kicking and jumping was covered by using partnered resistance.

The sessions were completed with activities for 'Expression of Potential' and the 'Dynamic Flex Warm Down'.

The seminars delivered only a level of awareness of the possibilities that the programme could bring. All the instructors and students participating in the seminars were very excited by the possibilities and commented on how much fun it was.
